Juarno Augustus has returned to full team training and is available for selection after his recent ankle injury.

Matthew Dalton is completing Graduated Return Protocols after a concussion he sustained in the game against Ospreys and is expected to be available for selection.

John Andrew suffered a concussion last week in training and will now follow the World Rugby Return to Play protocol – he will be unavailable this week.

As shared in the IRFU’s squad update this afternoon, Cormac Izuchukwu, Jude Postlethwaite and Bryn Ward have all returned to the squad from Ireland camp.

Tom McAllister starting (as a first-year academy player) at THP is interesting to say the least.  Great opportunity for him.

Not confident about this game.  Starting an academy prop in what has become a “must win” game says nothing good about our depth in the front row.  The only hope is that Edinburgh are even more inconsistent than us.  Also good luck to Shanahan starting, a rare sight, lets hope he is up to it.

is McGuire injured?  I looked at it stats, has he really only played 1 game this season for 20 mins?  I hope Shanahan goes well, could be his last start for Ulster ( I think his contract it up in the summer and I can’t see them keeping him when Devine it coming next season).  Yeah I’m nervous about this game too,  reminds me of last year when we lost a run of games we thought we should have won, around this time of year,  hopefully history does not repeat itself.

Well I got that completely wrong.  Academy prop wins a penalty on his first scrum against a Springbok (I think).  Poor Shanners off after less than 5 minutes (hope he is okay), and a few brilliant trys despite a couple of yellows and one 20 min red.  Can we just play second half’s in the future?

Unbelievable second half, we rarely beat up the opponents physically like that.  And the scrum!!  Good solid debut for McAllister but Wilson was tremendous when he got on.  Bit concerned about the amount of injuries, and another head impact for Izzy 😐

I was worried in the first half, and then with after the red card, but they were great in the 2nd half considering the red and injuries. I forgot about McAllister during the game, he was solid (Thank god). I missed what happened to Postlethwaite and Hume ( was skipping thought stoppages, was 1hr or so behind putting the kids to bed),  I was confused when I saw Flannery was on, but Lowry, Kok, Zack  and Jack were all still on.

Feel a lot better after that game, last week I was worried we would be fighting for a top 8, now I wondering could we get to the final…. got to keep myself in check Edinburgh are poor this year and missing players

@unclear Yeah Boan Venter is the current Springbok starting loosehead (including when they destroyed the Ireland front row) so that was a pretty remarkable debut by McAllister.  And Wilson had his best game for a long time when he came on.
