Are we talking will rival Jack for the 10 jersey or will be a good back up. Benson is 23, Burns was 24 when he joined Ulster, I would take a Burns level out half. With Jakes contract being renewed you think that Humphreys junior on the way out, hes only got 6 caps in 2 years ( pity he got injured early in the Zerba game)
Now we just need a replacement for Bell or maybe a TH if TOT moves across ( might still need a LH if TOT moves across, EOS has not been great this year)
Id expect Benson will be competition for Jack who I believe has a high ceiling and that this signing will push him on.
On the subject of Tighthead I don’t think the talk of Ofa Tuungafasi has went away.
At this point, unless someone exceptional is available I’d rather just renew Kok’s contract rather than looking for a warm body capable of playing prop. The thing with Kok is that I think his enthusiasm and positivity lifts the performance of those around him, as well as being all action himself. He’s been a brilliant signing for us and deserves better than he’s got in terms of being made to wait for a contract offer that might not come.
In hindsight, I think the random Zimbabwean second row we’ve signed is a bit of a mystery to me, I expect it’s been done with a view to improving our lineout, but we’ve plenty of young locks coming through who need game time and I’d have thought, with Bell going, that a prop would be higher up the priority list. Hopefully he proves me wrong when he gets here.

sound like ulster are still looking for another NIQ, but have not out right ruled out Kok for next year. A bit pissy the way hes been treated, hes been great for ulster, would have no problem signing him for another year even if he goes down hill a little next year ( not that I think he will)
Think the Issue for Kok is we have a greater need for an NIQ player in the front row. That’s my thoughts on it anyway.

hmm, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury 2 years ago, Newcastle did extended his contract last year, but there must have been compilations as they are released him this year. He has 26 caps for Argentine ( 15 of them in 23/24 season, before he got injured). Most of his club caps are with Zebra, 6 for Saracens ( only 1 start for them) and 16 for Newcastle. So the short term deal is to prove fitness, if he’s fit then it could be a good signing, but if he’s not… then what?
Aidan Morgan was announced on the 27th of May 2 years ago, which was the latest announcement for a single player for next season in recent history. Full squad announcements have been announced as late as the 13th of June, so I guess there is still time, but getting worrying that nothing has been announced prop wise yet
