Really £7.50 to steam a preseason friendly?
I thought EOS played well in the last game, hopefully that continues. Benson in the center this time, interesting. McNabney has some nice carries against Edinburgh, nice to see him start. King looked good, nice to see what he could do again.
I hoping the rust has been shaken off and we see a more complete performance, better line outs and less penalties in defence. last week we had a good attack and a decent scrum, but we are still making too many mistakes, Edinburgh were not great, after our first game in the urc we have a hard enough run of games, we need to start the season running, to ensure a top 8 ( top 4?) finish.
We’ve a bit of a prop injury crisis with Wilson, Reid, Crean, Knox all out, and O’Toole resting after the Ireland tour. So two academy lads on the bench, albeit we know McAllister is well able.
Also centre with Postlethwaite, Moore and McCloskey unavailable. I suspect this is why we’re seeing Benson at 12, although we have a bit more leeway here (Carson, Hawkshaw)
One other notable absentee these two games is Rob Herring. Not listed as injured. No harm to get some minutes for McCormick and Walker.
There’s a full replay of the Ospreys preseason game on Ulster’s YouTube channel now. McCloskey on co-commentary.
hard to draw any conclusions, but the attack looked good at least.
King looks good, interested to see how he gets in ( a solid Kok replacement?)
Scum look ok while Bello was on, which is good to see
Again McNabney looked good, great to have him back
Benson did a job at centre, I think it will be in most match day squads in some shape or form.
Again line out a bit wobbly at times, and mistakes in the centre defensively, hopefully that’s just rust. Roll on the 25th of Sept! (I’ll be on holidays in spain, hopefully I can still watch it somewhere/how)
