I think we lost every scrum up to the 60min and line outs were not great either ( did we lose our first 2 or 3?). Between the red card and their weaker bench we only got back into it, and fair play that we did but we didn’t have the composer to get critical 4 try which would have given us 2 losing bonus points. Didn’t help that Wilson looked like he was done the last 7-8 mins.
We also got on the wrong side of the ref very early and I think we lost a few 50/50 calls because of that ( eg when doaks kick got blocked I thought they were never on side and it looked like the ball was kicked out of Wilsons hand when he knocked on).
Looks like Bell will be out for a while, ToTs hand did not look great and maybe Wilsons in trouble too, could have a real prop crisis! This was my fear that our shallow squad depth would catch up with us at business end of the season.
If the Westies hold on here we are in bother
This weekends results so far are really working against us
I think the loss this weekend might well be the league season as good as done. The biggest concern is whether we’ll be able to field a halfway acceptable front row against exeter. I doubt we’ll be seeing bell again before he goes back to aus and we will have to wait and see what the nature of tot and Wilsons woes are.
We’ll probably have to be sending the reserves to munster in any case, due to having to give the players a week off in any case. Still think we’ll make the top 8 handily enough, but we’d probsbly be needing to win three games in the knockouts, which there is next to no chance of, so all eggs go in the exeter basket.
